Peggy Lu (Boyer) Sanders, 82, Scottsburg, Indiana, died December 23, 2018 at her home in North Carolina. She was born February 7, 1936, in Scottsburg, the daughter of Jacob Maurice and Margaret (Swan) Boyer.

Peg was a 1954 graduate of Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, Missouri, and a 1958 graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington. She received her M.S. in Education at Indiana University in 1960, and was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority.

After a variety of teaching positions and roles as a U.S. Air Force spouse, she worked as an English and Literature teacher at Crothersville High School from 1975-1999. During her tenure, she was the Student Council sponsor, CHS Tiger Tracks Editor, was voted Favorite Teacher of the Year multiple times, and received the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology Outstanding Teacher Award in 1987. She was the recipient of many other teaching recognition awards throughout her career.

She was a member of the Scottsburg United Methodist Church, the Historical Society, Friends of the Library, Daughters of the American Revolution (Good Citizen Chair), and social bridge clubs. She moved to North Carolina in January 2016.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Margaret Boyer, and her great aunt and uncle, Leland and Catherine (Swan) Langdon.

She is survived by her daughters Karen Heidrich (Patrick), and Charlotte Moreau of North Carolina; and grandchildren Katie Heidrich, Benjamin Heidrich, Leah Moreau, and Ava Moreau.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 with burial to follow at Scottsburg Cemetery.

A time of gathering will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service all at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Scottsburg.
