Richard Jacob Noblitt, 90 of Seymour, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour. He was born December 5, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Jacob Frederick and Anita Lydia Enzinger Noblitt.

Richard graduated from Cortland High School in 1946. He married his wife, Bettie Jean Griffin Noblitt in 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vallonia, Indiana. After 28 years of service, he retired from Arvins. He then went to work for Cummins for 19 years as a security guard. After retiring from Cummins, he worked part-time at Schneck Medical Center as a security guard. Richard loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. He also bowled on leagues, built muzzleloaders and enjoyed woodworking. In his later years, he loved to play Euchre. He was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church – White Creek.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister, Joan Hercamp. Surviving to cherish his memory are his son, Dale Noblitt of Seymour, grandchildren, Chris (Jessica) Noblitt, Natasha (Joe) Duran and Richard Thomas Noblitt. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Jayzlynn Noblitt, Bryson and Brayden Noblitt, Ava Jane and Jacob Duran.

Friends may gather with Richard’s family from 11 a.m. to service time at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut St., Seymour, IN 47274. Pastor Justin Whitmore will officiate. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Bettie at St. John’s Lutheran Church – White Creek Cemetery.
