Police responding to water rescue

The man has been taken from the floodwater.

10:44 a.m. Update:

The motorist is a man and is the only person in the vehicle.

ORIGINAL POST:

Police are responding to a water rescue of a motorist in floodwater.

The incident was reported at 10:24 a.m. at 1500 East County Road 300N in the Shieldstown Bottoms passed the Shieldstown Bridge.

The motorist told police they cannot swim, and that water was up to the steering wheel.

The type of vehicle or if there were passengers was not reported.

Motorists can be fined up to $500 for driving in floodwater in Jackson County.

It’s the third incident since Dec. 5 where first responders have been called to conduct a floodwater rescue.
