In the celebration of Christmas and the joy of the season, Seymour chapter of Order of the Eastern Star recently met at Jackson Masonic Lodge.

A soup and sandwich dinner was served to the officers and members of the chapter by Worthy Matron Margaret Kroman and Worthy Patron Rick Smith, assisted by Associate Matron Wanda Gray.

Following dinner, each of the guests received their elf name based on the first letter of their first name and their birth month and enjoyed Christmas games.

Christmas decorations adorned the tables. The chapter room was decorated with artificial candles and Christmas trees loaded with tiny cardinals.

The generosity of the members was exemplified in the abundance of canned and other nonperishable food items brought for those in need. These were delivered to Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Pantry by Denver Gray.

Continuing in the giving spirit, the chapter voted to give a donation to Todd’s House, sharing love with those struggling with dependencies.

In the past few months supporting our principles of brotherly love, relief and truth, the chapter has made philanthropic contributions to the Indiana Masonic Home at Compass Park, Our World of Youth Scholarships, ESTARL (training and religious leadership scholarships), cancer fund, heart fund, ICAN service dog project, Knights Templar Eye Foundation, Nettie Ransford Scholarship Fund for Special Education, Royal Arch Masons Research Fund (autism and auditory processing disorders) and Cryptic Masons Medical Research Foundation (vascular and related diseases).

Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both men and women belong. Wives, daughters, mothers, widows, sisters and other specified female relatives of Master Masons, three-year majority Rainbow Girls or Jobs Daughters and Master Masons are eligible for membership in Order of the Eastern Star.

Stated meetings of the chapter are at 7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month.
