Immanuel Adult Senior Ministry holds Christmas luncheon

The Immanuel Adult Senior Ministry’s annual Christmas luncheon was Dec. 16 in the fellowship hall.

The decor was festive holiday greenery including magnolia leaves, holly and pine branches. Scattered among the greenery were battery votive candles, and battery tapers with poinsettia candle rings.

The Rev. Philip Bloch welcomed everyone and emceed the event. He led the singing of "Happy Birthday" to all those with December birthdays.

The delicious menu included fried chicken, corn pudding, creamed peas, green beans, cherry gelatin salad, hot fudge sundaes and cookies.

The committee was introduced and included Vicki Newkirk, Bud and Joyce Nieman, Adrene Wunder, Donna Runge, Bette Hanna and Allen and Janis Mundt. Chairman Ann Mahan was unable to attend. Also helping the committee was Bud Nieman and Vicar Tyler Werner who helped with transportation.

A thanksgiving prayer given by Pastor Bloch was followed by everyone joining in singing the doxology. After the meal, the program was a Christmas carol/hymn sing-a-long accompanied by guest, Georgiann Coons, who dded sparkle to the music with her wonderful piano playing. The group thanked her by giving her a gift for the Jackson County Leadership Fund in which she is very supportive and active.

Door prizes were given to those whose names were drawn by Vicar Werner. Everyone was wished a blessed Advent and Christmas season and reminded of the next adult senior event on Jan. 16, 2019.
