Church choirs coming together Christmas cantata

The combined choirs of Brownstown First Baptist Church and Vallonia Christian Church will present the cantata “Joy, Unspeakable Joy!” 

It’s at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Baptist church, 1095 S. State Road 135, Brownstown, and Dec. 23 at the Christian church, 2344 S. Main St., Vallonia.

As Christmas nears, people rejoice in the birth of Jesus Christ and the real “reason for the season," according to a news release from the churches.

The joy people receive of that holy birth, passed down through the ages, will be shared through song and narration.

The narrator is Wayne Killion, and the director is Sandy Sunderman.

Members of the choir are Lewann Burrell, Mary Beth Covert, Marlyn Meahl, Amy Hartley, Debra Sweeney, Mary Lou Grider, Rita Bennett, Kaylee Bennett, Mischell Ferguson, Tina Wingler, Anita Sturgeon, Gretchen Booher, Larry Carmicheal, Scott Erwin, John Spurgeon, Hunter Curry, Jim Luttrell, Metro Kohlmeier, Tim Warren, Jerry Martin, Chris Criminger, Larry Covert and Dick Burrell.

The public is invited to share in this joyous celebration of Christ’s birth. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall following the program.

The minister of First Baptist Church is Scott Erwin, and Chris Criminger is the minister at Vallonia Christian Church.
