The Tribune staff reports

The Sertoma Club of Jackson County’s 46th annual program to ensure children do not have to go without gifts this Christmas has begun with the placement of Christmas Miracle Angel Trees at three locations in Seymour.

Those locations are Jackson County Public Library-Seymour Branch, Jackson County Visitors Center and Shoe Sensation in Seymour.

“Anyone who donates gifts or money to Sertoma Christmas Miracle can rest assured knowing that their contribution is used only for the children of Jackson County,” said Christmas Miracle Co-Chairman Ryan Begley. “This program only exists because of the extraordinary charity of the people of Jackson County.”

Gifts that are purchased are to be dropped off at Christmas Miracle Headquarters. This year, Christmas Miracle Headquarters is in Shoppes of Seymour at 357 Tanger Blvd. in Suite 209.

Donations to the Christmas Miracle effort can also be dropped off at headquarters or mailed to Jackson County Sertoma Club, Box 841, Seymour, IN 47274.

Hours of operation for Christmas Miracle Headquarters are as follows: 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Friday; 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday; and noon to 4 p.m on Saturday.

Christmas Miracle Headquarters will open this Saturday, Dec. 1. It is the location for gift or donation drop-offs. Applicants may fill out applications at Headquarters.

Applications are available at the Jackson County Health Department, the WIC office, Seymour City Hall, Jackson County Department of Child Services, all branches of the Jackson County Public Library, all participating agencies of the Jackson County United Way, and several local churches.

Blank applications also are available at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department at 150 S. State Road 250 in Brownstown (during business hours) and at Bundy Brothers at 3 N. David St. in Medora.

Applications should be completed and mailed to Jackson County Sertoma, Box 841, Seymour, IN 47274, or they can be brought to Christmas Miracle Headquarters.

All applications are processed through Charity Tracker, so resources can be used without duplication of other services.

More than $1,200 in new toys were delivered to more than 160 children in 1972 during the first Christmas Miracle.

In 2017, Christmas Miracle co-chairman John Fox estimated more than 1,000 people contributed or volunteer to help with the program, allowing Sertoma to help 311 families with 755 children throughout Jackson County.

For questions, call the Christmas Miracle Headquarters at 812-498-2275. The phone will be answered during open hours.
