WESTERN SPRINGS, ILLINOIS

Edith Mae Pomeroy, nee Krumme, born March 16, 1934, in Seymour, to the late Bertha Krumme and the late Henry E. Krumme Jr., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, at age 84 in Western Springs, Illinois.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Paul Griffith Pomeroy, and her three loving children, Stephanie Pomeroy Johnson (Nick), Paul Anthony Pomeroy (Deborah Kahl) and Mark Stephen Pomeroy (Tina Neizgoda).

She was the proud grandmother of Brendan McShane Johnson (Lauren Cole), Kevin Michael and Sean Patrick. Her two sisters, Janet VanLiew (Ken) and Sarah Shade (Dick) reside in Indiana.

She also has a half-sister, Nanette Krumme Burke, and a half-brother, Galen Krumme.

She was preceded in death by her older sister, Melba Stafford (John Stafford).

Edie had numerous fond memories of Seymour, especially the time she spent at her uncle’s in her earlier years and the summer she spent with her mother in 1999.

She attended Indiana University for two years, where she was Miss Military Ball queen and went on to be Miss Indiana and was in the second Miss Universe contest. She then received her fashion degree from Toby Coburn Fashion School in New York City.

After working for Marshall Field’s and Saks in Chicago, she then went on to have a long and prosperous career as a fashion model.

She loved spending time with her family, especially up at their cottage in South Haven, Michigan. She also enjoyed estate sales, her art pictures, decorating her house and gardening.

Per her wish, her body was donated to science and will then be cremated. A tree will be planted in her honor.

A private family celebration will be conducted as well as a memorial up in Palisades Park in Michigan.

We will always have loving memories of Edie as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. RIP.
