Teen advisory council meetings planned at library

0

Brownstown Public Library’s Teen Readers Advisory Council will meet from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 6, Jan. 3, Feb. 7, March 7, April 4, May 2 and June 6 at the library, 120 E. Spring St., Brownstown.

The club advises the library about teen interests and trends. Members recommend titles for the young adult collection and suggest ideas for teen programs. Occasionally, members help youth services facilitate programs for other age groups.

This program is for teens entering fifth grade through those in 12th grade. Participants must have read one book from the young adult collection before each meeting.

During the meeting, each participant will give a brief book talk about their selection. The goal of a book talk is to tell enough about the title to encourage fellow teens to read the title without giving away the ending.

Following the book talks, teens will have time to socialize, make recommendations for future programs and participate in various group activities.

Snacks will be provided during all meetings.

Registration is required.

If Brownstown Central Community School Corp. closes because of weather, all youth services programming will be canceled.
