The congregation of Brownstown Christian Church will present the second annual “Mountain Shaker Express Bazaar” Friday and Saturday.

Crafters and vendors from as far away as Indianapolis will be set up for your holiday shopping.

On Friday, the public is invited for dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall followed by a special celebration of piano music featuring early ragtime, popular standards and religious favorites with award-winning pianist Paul Stewart of Greensboro, North Carolina, at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Stewart has performed classic piano ragtime in Manchester, England, and in Bologna, Italy, for international music conferences.

He also has presented his seminar, “Bands, Bars and Banjos: influences on Ragtime,” for the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, Missouri, and has appeared at the Rocky Mountain Ragtime Festival, Boulder, Colorado and the Sutter Creek Ragtime Festival in California. His longtime interest and research in ragtime piano music culminated in his 2007 CD titled “Rhythm and Rags."

Breakfast will be served from 8 to 10 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Carryout meals are available both days.

At noon Saturday, Steward will be playing piano music from movies, Broadway shows and classical repertoire in the church’s “Connection Café.”

Stewart also will be performing during church services at 8 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
