Loyal Devoir Society meets at Central Christian Church

The Loyal Devoir Society of Central Christian Church met Oct. 23 in Seymour.

President Paula Stafford called the meeting to order with 17 members present.

Helen Horton led devotions and closed with prayer.

Judy McDonald read the minutes, and they were approved.

Treasurer Betty Guinn gave reports for September and October, and both were approved.

Bonnie Koontz conducted a sale Oct. 21, and another is planned for Nov. 25.

Under old business, the group was given a choice of three menus and voted on one for the Christmas dinner at 6 p.m. Dec. 11. The youth will cook, serve and clean up for the price of $11 per person, and the parents will help. Lois Gueter will provide Christmas booklets.

Neil Gardner asked for cookies for the veteran’s program Nov. 9 through 11. Twelve people volunteered to bring four dozen apiece.

Janice Brock made a motion to give donations to a mental health organization, Hoosier Christian Village and Sertoma Club of Jackson County. It was approved.

Loretta Riehl, Koontz and Patty Elmore volunteered for the nominating committee. Horton and Janice Brock will audit the books.

The pastors and staff are invited to the dinner. Gift cards also will be given.

The meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction.
