Free FAFSA night planned for Wednesday

0

A Free Application for Federal Student Aid night will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Room 206 at Seymour High School.

The event is open to any adult and high school student needing to complete their FAFSA for the 2019-20 academic year. Parents are encouraged to attend. Student aid experts will be available to provide information and answer questions.

Parents and students can learn how to complete the application, which is required to determine eligibility for most student aid programs, such as the Frank O’Bannon Grant, Federal Pell Grant, institutional awards and federal student and parent loans.

To complete the application, you will need:

  • Your Social Security number
  • Your parents’ Social Security numbers if you are a dependent student
  • Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
  • 2017 income information, 2017 W-2s
  • Parents of dependent students and students need to obtain their own FSA identification. To do so, go to fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm
  • Parents and students will now use a username and password to access their FAFSA and to electronically sign their FAFSA.
  • You can get your FSA ID as you fill out the FAFSA, but it’s best to obtain your FSA ID ahead of time. For information on how to create a FSA ID, go to studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/filling-out/fsaid

Other FAFSA resources can be found at studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/filling-out#documents, fafsa.ed.gov and collegegoalsunday.org.
