Frank P. Beard Jr., 74, of Crothersville, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Born January 3, 1944 in Seymour, he was the son of Frank P. Beard Sr. and Monis (Stout) Beard-Benbrook.
On November 3, 1967 in Seymour, he married Carol J. Brumett.
After attending Seymour High School, Frank joined the U.S. Army and served from 1964 to 1967 with his last assignment at Ft. Knox. During his service, he was awarded a safe driving certificate in Germany while serving with the 2nd Armored Calvary Regiment. He was a mechanic in Headquarters troop of the regiments 2nd Reconnaissance Squadron.
Frank worked at Excello Shirt Factory and retired from Walmart Supercenter.
He enjoyed fishing, mowing and taking care of the yard, watching Nascar, going to flea markets and going to family reunions. Frank loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of almost 51 years Carol; daughter, Michelle (Daryel) Lucas-Brown of Westport; grandchildren, Aaron Lucas and Brittany Beard; siblings, Adele (William) Cordes of Columbus, Adrel (Sue) Benbrook of Michigan and sister in law, Mary Benbrook of California.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; son Tony Ray Beard; siblings Judy Beard and James Benbrook; mother and father in law, William and Leona Brumett.
The family would like to give much thanks to the caregivers from Schneck Medical Center’s Cardio Rehab, ICU and Home Health; Columbus Regional Hospital’s Critical Care Unit; to Dr. Lemming, Dr. Hart, Dr. Sharma and Dr. Wagner.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 30th from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with full military honors.
