BROWNSTOWN

Ruth Luella Pottschmidt, 94, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Hoosier Christian Village.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 27 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Brownstown at 11:00 AM wit Rev. Jeremy Yeadon officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery in Brownstown.

Family and friends may call at Zabel Funeral Home in Brownstown on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service.

Ruth was born in Jackson County on August 5, 1924 to the late Levi and Clara (Heman) Patman. On February 17, 1946 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers, she married Leo Pottschmidt who preceded her in death on November 1, 2005.

Ruth attended and graduated from Brownstown High School where she was valedictorian of her class. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Ladies Bible Study Group and DAV Auxillary.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Janice) Pottschmidt of Brownstown, Jane Burbrink of Seymour and Darlene (Roger Fowler) Hayes of Seymour; grandchildren, Michael (Vicki) Pottschmidt of Concordia, MO, Stephanie (Grant) McSwain of St Charles, MO, Brittany (John) Koopman of Emmetsburg , IA, Carolyn (Brent) Jones of Seymour, Brad (Amber) Burbrink of Terre Haute, IN, Aaron (Ernie) (Rachel) Burbrink of Warsaw, IN and Sam Hayes of Seymour; also 14 great-grandchildren Evelyn (Evie) and Annika Pottschmidt; Charlotte and Virginia (Ginny) McSwain; David and Gideon Koopman; Madison and Morgan Jones; Evan, Claire and Jacob Burbrink; Hadley Lukas and Isla Burbrink.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, Raymond and Ed Patman.
