Hornets finish runner-up in first conference tourney

DUGGER — Medora finished second in the inaugural Southern Roads Conference tournament on Saturday at Dugger Union High School.

After securing wins over Madison Christian (25-14, 25-21) and Cannelton (25-19, 24-25, 15-9), the Hornets faced Columbus Christian in the championship.

In the finals, the Crusaders topped the Hornets 25-14, 25-9.

Kailen Flynn led the Hornets’ attack, finishing 39-for-44 on hits with seven kills. Keyla Newby had 12 hits with four kills and Kelsey Turner also had seven kills.

Serving, Gracey Cobb had nine aces and Turner had eight.

Flynn also had eight blocks and 13 digs to lead Medora.

The Hornets (8-16) goes to Borden tonight.

Braves sweep Warriors

SCOTTSBURG — Brownstown Central continued its Mid-Southern Conference dominance by posting a 25-14, 25-14, 25-12 victory at Scottsburg on Monday.

Kendra McCory led the team with 10 kills while Addie Wilkerson and Kayla Guthrie each recorded nine.

Regan Nuss had four aces, and Halle Hehman and Keeli Darlage each recorded three.

The Braves (23-4, 7-0 MSC) will host North Harrison tonight.

Trinity tops South Decatur

GREENSBURG — Trinity Lutheran bested South Decatur 25-10, 25-13, 25-17 on Monday evening.

Hannah Sabotin led the Cougars with 11 kill while Kamzi Gross had six aces to go along with six digs. Setting, Bailey Reynolds had 18 assists.

The Cougars (21-8) go to Rock Creek Academy tonight.
