Seymour girls, boys win team titles, Trinity’s Goecker wins individually

SELLERSBURG — Seymour won a pair of team titles and Trinity Lutheran’s A.J. Goecker was the fastest runner at the Silver Creek Invitational on Tuesday.

The Owls’ boys finished with 59 points to lead the 15-team field. Silver Creek were runners-up at 96 and Brown County took third with 121.

Goecker clocked 17-minutes, 20.97-seconds while teammates Jacob Sabotin (23:04) and Jordan Peters (26:20) placed 92nd and 121st of 136 runners.

Seymour was led by a fourth place finish by Luke Plummer (17:56.36). Brandon Kleber (9th, 18:39.47), Luke Bane (13th, 18:53.82), Luke Hauersperger (18th, 19:03.20) and Michael Proffer (19:26.13) scored for SHS. The Owls had 19 runners in the race.

On the girls’ side, the Owls had 37 points to finish first of seven teams.

Seymour’s Ashton Chase was the fastest in the race, finishing in 20:20.51 of 82 girls.

Makenna Sunbury was sixth in 21:51.61, Grace Rennekamp laced ninth in 22:22.04, Brett Kleber timed 23:57.14 for 22nd and Samantha Jacobi was 24th in 24:04.28. The Owls had 14 total girls run.

Trinity’s Sadie Nay finished 48th in 27:25.74 and Abby Hildreth was 64th in 29:41.02.
