The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees conducted a public hearing on the 2019 budget at its regular meeting Monday at the library in Seymour.

The proposed 2019 operating fund budget is $2,453,976, and the property tax cap credit is $45,065.

During the regular meeting, the board approved staff changes and received board member self-evaluation and office/committee interest forms.

Youth services assistant Jill Willey gave a report on teen programs. In the four years she has been coordinating teen services, attendance at teen programs at the Seymour Library is at an all-time high.

She has expanded programs to include a monthly visit to teens at Seymour High School. The Teen Advisory Group meets monthly and recently hosted Reading in the Round at Steinker Platz. They will also assist the Friends of the Jackson County Public Library with Seymour Oktoberfest parking and library staff at Christmas parties. Willey also plans teen programs at the Crothersville Library.

The board’s next meeting, the adoption of the 2019 budget, is at 5 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Seymour Library.
