Rick Sons, 65, died on Sept. 16, 2018, at his home in Indianapolis. He was born in Seymour, Indiana, on July 5, 1953. He was the son of Thelma Weaver, who survives in Brownstown, Ind., and stepson of Carroll Weaver, who preceded him in death. Rick graduated in 1971 from Brownstown Central High School, where he met his future wife, Edie Wessel Sons, who survives. They were married on Nov. 24, 1973, and have lived in Indianapolis throughout nearly 45 years of marriage. Rick graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute in Indianapolis. He was a lifelong auto mechanic, specializing in transmission repair. For several years, he was a self-employed shop owner, and he had been a Matco Tools distributor and district manager. Most recently, he was a consultant for Automatic Transmission Service Group (ATSG). Rick loved fishing and boating and being with his family. He was the go-to guy for relatives and friends who needed technological help with electronic devices. In addition to his wife and mother, Rick is survived by one daughter, Kelly (Jared) Hartman of Wisner, Nebraska; and one granddaughter, Abigail Hartman. Other survivors include a sister, Beth (Steve) Bowling of Crothersville, Ind.; two brothers, Tom (Sherry) Weaver and Bill (Deb) Sons, both of Seymour, Ind.; a niece, Lindsey Weaver, and three nephews, Jeremy, Gavin and Landon Sons. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 W. 10th Street, Indianapolis. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 9201 E. County Road 100 North, Avon, Ind., 46123.
