William “Bill” John Himmler, 83, of North Vernon passed away at 10:42 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at his residence.

Born June 30, 1935 in North Vernon, he was the son of William Frances Himmler Jr. and Clara (Taskey) Alvirda Himmler. He married Sirikanya “Lek” Himmler on September 26, 1999 in Marlborough, Massachusetts. She preceded him in death on May 25, 2011.

Mr. Himmler graduated from North Vernon High School in 1952 before graduating from Purdue University in 1956 and receiving his master’s degree from Indiana University. He worked for various corporations nationwide during his career as a chemical engineer. He was an Eagle Scout in addition to being a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing the organ and the piano.

Mr. Himmler is survived by his first cousins, Robert Spears, Barbara ZeBell, Patricia Haines, Thomas Richart, Virginia Moats, and Thomas Ross.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and aunts and uncles, John Himmler, Mary Himmler, Hubert Himmler, Virgie Ross, Julius Taskey, Louise Spears, Charles Taskey, Harold Taskey, Hannabelle Richart, Harriet Ross, and Doris Whitehead.

A funeral service for Mr. Himmler will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in North Vernon with Rev. Jerry Byrd officiating. Visitation will be at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m with a rosary service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 10 a.m.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Mary’s School or to the Hoosier Trails Counsel Boy Scouts of America.
