Ivy Tech offers free Professional Skills program

Ivy Tech Community College is offering two professional skills programs at the Jackson County Learning Center in Seymour.

The free programs will be offered from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 25, 27 and 28 or Oct. 1, 5 and 8 at 323 Dupont Drive.

These 24-hour training events are designed to prepare participants with the skills and knowledge that today’s employers are looking for, according to a news release. They will finish with an updated resume and certificate of completion from Ivy Tech.

Local employers will be conducting practice interview sessions with those completing the training.

Topics covered include professionalism, communication and goal setting; successful work habits; critical thinking and problem solving; budgeting, time and money management; accountability, trust and diversity; emotional intelligence and resisting temptation; job search and resume writing; and practice interview sessions.

Lunch will be provided and a childcare option is available.

There is a 15 per class maximum.
