Mrs. Elizabeth Ann “Bet” Smith, 89, of Seymour, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Covered Bridge Health Campus.

She was born in Columbus on August 17, 1929 to Arles and Elizabeth (Mathis) Stilabower.

Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Monday, September 10 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Rick Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service.

She graduated from Columbus High School in 1948. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Seymour and often attended Surprise Christian Church.

On January 24, 1951, she married Calvin J. Smith; he preceded her in death on September 19, 2010. She was mostly a housewife.

She loved to go camping and had camped all the way to Alaska. She also enjoyed fishing, needle work, and jigsaw puzzles.

She worked at Bartholomew County Hospital as an aid, in the school cafeteria in Seymour and the treasurer’s office in Columbus. She performed a lot of volunteer work with her church. She was an office angel and volunteered funeral dinners at Central Christian Church and other services.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol (Dennis) Roberson and Peggy (Mike) Trueblood; grandchildren, Jeremy Roberson, Carrie (Steve) Lawson and Christy Fields; great-grandchildren, Cavien Lawson, Salisha Roberson and Mason, Carter and Pryce Fields; and brother-in-law, George A. Smith.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Doug Roberson; sister, Linda Elkins; and half brother, Donald Stilabower.
