Hannah Sabotin, Trinity Lutheran volleyball, junior

Accomplishments this past week: Sabotin helped Trinity Lutheran volleyball beat Christian Academy, South Ripley, Indy Lutheran, and Heritage Hills.

How were you able to perform to your potential this past week?

“I work hard in practice, drink a lot of water and eat well.”

What did you do well?

“I hit and block well. I encourage my teammates and have a positive attitude.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“I listen to music and stretch.”

Favorite food: Watermelon

Favorite music genre/artist: Pop, Katy Perry

Favorite book: Bible

Favorite class: Weights

Role model(s): Mom and Dad

Best advice?

“Do it with passion or not at all.”

If you could travel anywhere and why?

“Bora, Bora, because it is so beautiful and there are so many fun things to do there.”

Athletics goal (current or future)?

“To win Regionals and to play volleyball in college.”

Derek Thompson, Brownstown Central football , junior

Accomplishments this past week: Thompson ran for 137 yards and two touchdowns on three carries in a 48-8 Brownstown Central win over Eastern.

How were you able to perform to your fullest potential this past week?

“The entire week coach May really pushed us and told us that we’re not just preparing for Eastern, we’re preparing for North Harrison and Lawrenceburg. This made me personal want to go harder in practice the entire week and give my all Friday night.”

What did you do well?

“I felt like I did a good job on my running all together. I can’t take all the credit though, my teammates did a great job blocking by opening up holes for me to hit and I made the right cuts that got us into the end zone.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“Before each game I always lay out my stuff the night before, and then in weights do the same thing to double-check I have everything. Usually I’ll get really bad butterflies in my stomach before a game, so to get the nerves out I always count to 100 four times.”

Best advice?

“Always give your all no matter what your doing.”

If you could travel anywhere and why?

“Rio de Janeiro. There are many eye-catching attractions, big sporting events, delicious food and drinks, and beautiful scenery.”

“Win sectionals and go far in this years tourney”
