The Jackson County Visitor Center board of directors recently met and distributed $400 promotional grant awards to several area groups.

Those presents were Margo Brewer with the Jackson County History Center; Matt Nicholson, Perry Shepherd, Craig Jones and Becky Bujwid with READ Jackson County; Dill Whittymore and Darin Rorig with the Indiana High School and Indiana Junior High School Rodeo Association; Cooney Barger with the Jackson County Antique Machinery Association; and Len Hauersperger and Carol King with the Seymour Museum Center. Bujwid also represented the Humane Society of Jackson County.

The Seymour Noon Lions Club also received a grant but did not have a representative available for the presentation.

Executive Director Arann Banks and Jane Hays, public relations manager, presented their reports. Financial reports were discussed and approved by the board.

The promotion committee met prior to the meeting to discuss a promotional grant application from the St. John’s White Creek Lutheran youth group. The group is sponsoring a golf outing and requested $400 for advertising. A motion was made to award the grant, and the motion carried.

The next board meeting will be Sept. 19 at the visitor center, 100 N. Broadway St., Seymour.
