McMahon family meets for reunion in Seymour

The descendants of Dennis McMahon and Jane Edwards McMahon conducted their 98th annual reunion Aug. 18 at Woodlawn Life Celebration Centre in Seymour.

After the pitch-in meal, Kim Shepherd gave a presentation on words and phrases used in Ireland and their meanings, which are very different from those used in Indiana.

The hat was passed to offset expenses. Door prizes were awarded to the oldest man, oldest woman and those who traveled the farthest. Deaths and births during the past year were shared. A white elephant sale was held. Professional auctioneer and cousin Marvin Rumph led the auction. Finally, a game of bingo was played.

Attending were Dean and Mary Murphin, Harold and Rosetta Titus, Troy Loudermilk and Pearl Davis of Medora; Dick Rumph, Marilyn and Jack Kendall, Mary Alice Goble, Sandy Padron and Marvin and Linda Rumph of Seymour; Brad and Karyn Rumph of Vallonia; Dave and Karen Pogue of Hope; Jim and Kathie Carter of Westview, Illinois; Jack and Sharon McMahon and Richard Midkiff of Franklin; Kim Shepherd of Beech Grove; Sue Johnson and Lois Walker of Columbus; and this year’s hosts, Jerry and Bonnie Thompson of Spraytown.

Next year’s reunion will be Aug. 17 at the clubhouse in Dick Rumph’s apartment complex. Next year’s hosts will be Kim Shepherd and Jack and Sharon McMahon.
