Public invited to fitness court opening

The Seymour Parks and Recreation Department invites everyone to the opening of the new fitness court at Crossroads Community Park in the 100 block of East Tipton Street in downtown Seymour.

There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, and friendly fitness challenges will go from 10 a.m. to noon.

Organizers hope to have two representatives from local schools compete in a challenge and local police and fire departments battling it out in a challenge. Representatives from local fitness facilities also are invited to be a part of the event.

Email [email protected] if you will be able to attend or send a representative.

There also will be T-shirt and water bottle giveaways while supplies last.

The fitness court will be used Saturday to complete the 50 Hours of Fitness event, organized by Seymour resident Tyler Henkle.

Sponsors of the fitness court include Schneck Foundation, Healthy Jackson County and Seymour Rotary.
