Cougars fall to Grizzly Cubs in three

FRANKLIN — Franklin Community topped Trinity Lutheran 25-19, 25-21, 25-20 on Thursday.

Hitting, Hannah Sabotin had 13 kills, Abby Schult totaled five and Kennedy Hoffman had three.

Bailey Reynolds had 25 assists and Kamzi Gross totaled 15 digs. Schult and Savannah Harweger had two blocks each.

The Cougars (3-2) will compete in the Bloomington South tournament on Saturday. They will open with South at 9 a.m. before finishing pool play against East Central and Silver Creek.

Seymour, Brownstown Central, Covenenat Christian and Cardinal Ritter make up the other pool.

Crossover matches start at 3 p.m. and the finals will begin at 4.

Tigers beat Lighthouse Christian

BLOOMINGTON — Crothersville swept Lighthouse Christian Academy 27-25, 25-8, 25-19 on Friday evening to move to 4-3 on the season.

Maddie Riley led the Tigers’ offense by going 40-for-43 with 20 kills. Bekah Cook also had a strong outing, making 20 of 21 attempts with five kills.

Serving, Riley had six aces and Makayla Helt had one.

BOYS TENNIS

Trinity drops home match

Southwestern edged Trinity Lutheran 3-2 on Thursday.

The Cougars won both doubles positions.

Cameron Gruenwald and Hunter Morgan won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles and Caleb Gruenwald and Luke Pollert won 6-3, 6-4.

Trinity (1-2) goes to New Washington on Wednesday.
