The Jackson County Public Library offers Paws to Read at the library, 303 W. Second St., Seymour.

The free 30-minute program was created with struggling readers in mind, but literacy skills of all levels are welcome. Children will spend time with a gentle canine friend building confidence and increasing fluency when reading aloud.

The program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade is at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 6 and 20, Oct. 18 and Nov. 1, 15 and 29.
