Monica Boyer, the Jackson County Public Library’s new head of collection development, gave a report to the board of trustees during Monday’s meeting at the library in Seymour.

A 17-year employee, Boyer worked as an information services assistant prior to serving as the technical services manager for the past six years. She already is working with adult nonfiction and will work on cataloging and organizing the library’s digital collection at jacksoncountyhistory.org.

After her report, the board approved changes to the internet acceptable use policy that was last revised in August 2017 and changes to the social media policy that was created in November 2013. The changes are worded to include personal mobile device, wireless internet connection and the use of one-on-one instruction instead of computer classes and to include Instagram and Snapchat to social media platforms.

The budget committee announced $2,453,976 will be advertised for the 2019 operating fund, which is a 3.4 percent increase. The public hearing on the budget is Sept. 17, and the adoption is Oct. 15, both regular meetings at the library.

The board also approved personnel changes and joining the Consortium for Public Library Internet Access from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2020.

The board’s next meeting is at 5 p.m. Sept. 17 at the library.
