Janet Jo Cross Kuehn, 87, went to her eternal home Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Janet was born in 1931 in Jackson County to Hershel Clair and Myrtle Lucas Cross. She graduated from Brownstown High School in 1949 and attended Indiana University. In 1951, she married Harold Kuehn, and together, they had three children, Karen, Jerry and Kathy. They operated a 500-acre farm in the Honeytown area until their retirement.

Janet was baptized at Brownstown Christian Church, and after her marriage, she joined St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownstown.

Before having her children, she worked at Marion-Kay Spices in Brownstown and Timperman’s Farm and Equipment in Seymour. During her lifetime, she was a member of Tri Kappa sorority, St. Peter’s Lutheran Ladies Aid and Honeytown Extension Homemakers.

Janet is survived by her children, Karen (John) Buchanan of Madison, Jerry (Janice) Kuehn of Sarasota, Florida, and Kathy (Dennis) Blandford of Brownstown; grandchildren, Melissa Buchanan (Lance Dickman) of New Orleans, Louisiana, Rex (Ashley) Buchanan of Denver, Colorado, Amanda Blandford of Brownstown, Amy Combs of Brownstown and Devin Kuehn of Orlando, Florida; great-grandchildren, Kristen Combs and Hunter Combs of Brownstown and Axel Dickman of New Orleans, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Lois Boswell and Larna Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; her brother and his wife, Robert and Sylvia Cross; brothers-in-law, Lowell Kuehn and Lester Kuehn; and sisters-in-law, Marion Kuehn Eckelman, Helen Kuehn Schlehuser and Vivian Kuehn Spurgeon.

The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Brownstown with Pastor Jeremy Yeadon officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc. in Brownstown.

Interment will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Brownstown.
