Warriors edge Owls

SCOTTSBURG — Scottsburg used a four-hour match to break a 2-2 tie for a 3-2 win over Seymour on Friday.

At No. 1 singles, Camden Jones won a marathon contest 6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-6 (6) over the Owls’ Adam Berry.

Scottsburg took the other two singles positions, as Mark Hays beat Isaac Hardin 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 and Ryan Gibson topped Trey Hohenstreiter 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3.

Seymour (1-1) won both doubles matches on the evening.

At No. 1 doubles, Sam Schmidt and Andre Levine bested Cole Atha and Jordan Smith 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. Will Rinehart and Brandon Hubbard picked up the other SHS win, beating Braden Barger and Wyatt Harmon 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2.

VOLLEYBALL

Cougars sweep Braves

BORDEN — Trinity Lutheran made quick work of Borden, 25-6, 25-14, 25-13, on Thursday.

Hannah Sabotin led the Cougars with 10 kills whil going 12-for-12 on hits, and Abby Schult made 12 of 14 hitting attempts with six kills and two blocks.

Bailey Reynolds and Sabotin each pushed across five aces for the Cougars, and Kamzi Gross topped Trinity with 10 digs.

The Cougars (2-1) will host Waldron on Tuesday.
