Seymour Noon Lions Club’s eighth annual Pig in the Park Family Fun Fair will be Saturday.

The event is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. at Gaiser Park in Seymour.

A pulled pork dinner with sides, drink and a dessert is $6.50.

There will be free activities for children, including bouncy houses along with demonstrations from Seymour High School Robotics Club and Boy Scouts of America. Local first responders, including police, fire and EMS, will have emergency vehicles for people to see and community agency groups will have information booths set up.

Live music will be provided by Lom Win, Steve Scarlett, Travis and Gage Mull and Lela Hendley.

Tickets are available at This Old Guitar or Greemann’s Furniture, from any Seymour Noon Lions member or by calling 812-552-1208. They also can be purchased at the park the day of the event.

Corporate ticket packages can be purchased for $50 for 10 tickets or $100 for 20 tickets.

All money raised from the event benefits local organizations, including Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Pantry, Boys & Girls Club of Seymour, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Community Provisions of Jackson County, Girls Inc. of Jackson County, Child Care Network and others.

The event typically raises between $3,000 and $3,500, said event chairman Richard Beatty.

“It’s a good way for the community to come together and help out,” he said. “We’d like to pack the park and get more groups involved.”

Two whole pigs will be cooked, providing more than 200 meals, he said.

Sponsors for the event include Darlage Custom Meats, Duke Energy, Premier Ag, JayC Food Stores, Pepsi, the Jackson County Visitor Center, Pewter Hall, Bob Poynter dealerships of Seymour, Royalty Companies and Hildreth’s Liquor Mart.

“Without them, we couldn’t put it on,” Beatty said.
