A memorial ride in honor of Lynn Steinkamp will be Aug. 25 with proceeds to benefit the Medora Brick Plant project and scholarship fund for future masonry students.

Steinkamp was a lifelong resident of Jackson County who was most well-known for his work as a mason, owning and operating Steinkamp Masonry for more than 50 years. He always aimed for excellence in his work and relationships within the community.

Whether he was creating artwork through his masonry efforts or providing the best of care to horses and their owners as their farrier, Steinkamp was the epitome of what it meant to be professional in his works, yet personable in his dealings.

The inaugural Lynn Steinkamp Memorial Ride is open to all state highway-approved vehicles, ranging from motorcycles and Jeeps to classics.

Registration begins at noon at the pavilion in Vallonia, next to the Bluebird Cafe. The ride will leave at 1 p.m. with dinner, auction and live music by Why Not to begin at 6 p.m. at the Medora Conservation Club.

The cost is $20 per person for the ride, meal and music and $5 per person for the meal and music.

Preregistration tickets are available at eventbrite.com under “Lynn Steinkamp Memorial.”
