A 41-year-old Jackson County man was involved in a wreck that left a man dead Tuesday in Jefferson County, police report.

Dallas Jackson, 21, of Madison sustained fatal injuries in the crash reported at about 7:25 a.m. on State Road 56 near Hanover, according to a report from Sgt. Stephen Wheeles.

Wheeles, public information officer for the Indiana State Police Versailles Post, said Jackson was driving a 2010 Mazda west on State Road 56 when he was involved in a wreck with a 2003 Honda van driven east by Miko D. McRoy of Medora.

Jackson was pronounced dead by an official with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, while McRoy was treated and transported to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Wheeles said.

A passenger in Jackson’s car, Zachary Kelly, 21, of Lexington, also was transported to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Police have yet to determine which vehicle crossed the centerline first because the collision occurred in the center of the road, Wheeles said.

Trooper Matt Holley with the Versailles Crash Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the crash, and toxicology results are pending on both drivers, Wheeles said.

Officers with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and Hanover Police Department assisted along with personnel with the Hanover Fire Department and King’s Daughters’ Health Emergency Medical Services.
