5 people arrested in North Vernon on drug-related charges

Five people were arrested Tuesday after North Vernon Police Department officers received a report of possible drug activity in the area of Sixth and Summit streets.

Officers Scotty Willis and Isaac Barkes were sent to the location at 4 a.m. Tuesday and found three people and drug paraphernalia.

Sgt. Kyle Hall said all three were arrested at the scene. Arrested were:

Stacey R. Carrigg, 31, Butlerville, on preliminary felony charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a syringe. She was being held in the Jennings County Jail on $1,055 bond.

Jessie D. Russell, 23, North Vernon, on a preliminary misdemeanor charge of possession of paraphernalia. Bond was set at $605.

Amberley R. Day, 29, North Vernon, on preliminary felony charges of dealing in a controlled substance, possession of a syringe, trafficking with an inmate and obstruction of justice and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia and resisting law enforcement. She was being held in the Jennings County Jail on $1,055 bond.

Hall then obtained information about an address in the 400 block of Sixth Street, and officers served a search warrant there.

Hall said officers found a large quantity of drug paraphernalia, prescription pills not in their prescribed containers, a small amount of methamphetamine and five prepackaged containers of suspected heroin.

Arrested were:

Jeffrey A. Bower, 36, North Vernon, on preliminary felony charges of dealing in a controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. He was being held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $3,155 bond.

Calin Thomas, 31, North Vernon, on preliminary felony charges of dealing in a controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. He was being held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $6,255 bond.
