Western Governors University awards degrees

Western Governors University recently held commencement ceremonies in Orlando, Florida, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Seattle, Washington, to celebrate the graduations of more than 15,000 students from across the country.

Jackson County graduates and their degrees are:

Chastity Johnson of Brownstown, Master of Science in nursing-leadership and management; and Kimberly Leamer, Bachelor of Science in nursing; and Rhomonda Scifres, Bachelor of Science in nursing, both of Seymour.

North Vernon graduates and their degrees are:

Jalana Belding, Master of Science in management and leadership; Robin Caudill, Bachelor of Science in nursing; Joshua Taylor, Bachelor of Science in IT-security emphasis; Travis Shepherd, Master of Science in management and leadership; Chasity Gerkin, Master of Science in management and leadership; and Joy Hall, Master of Science in nursing-leadership and management.

The online nonprofit university recognized 8,938 undergraduates and 6,734 graduates who completed degrees in business, K-12 education, information technology and health professions, including nursing.

Established in 1997 by 19 governors with a mission to expand access to higher education, the university has more than 110,000 graduates in all 50 states.
