Seymour hosts annual Midnight 5K

At the crack of midnight, the streets of Seymour were filled with runners.

A total of 119 athletes competed in the Midnight 5K run that started and ended at Seymour High School’s Bulleit Stadium over the weekend.

Jake McCullough, a Brownstown Central alum, was the overall winner in 16-minutes, 56-seconds with a pace of 5:27 per mile.

Ben Franke was second overall in 17:07.5, Jacob Voss placed third in 17:12.8, Luke Plummer timed 17:21.7 for fourth and Aaron Zollman got fifth in 17:32.7.

Ashton Chase, an incoming senior at SHS, was first in the female division in 19:53.7 while teammate Makenna Sunbury was 13th overall and runner-up in the women’s race in 20:24.1. Hannah Walls (24th, 23:20), Claire Wisler (26th, 23:40.6) and Andrea Nordhof (27th, 23.44.6) completed the top five for the women.

Proceeds from the fundraiser went to the SHS cross-country teams.
