Phillip Alan Teipen, age 66, of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.

Phil was a self-employed lifetime farmer, a member of the Indiana National Guard, and a member of Grassy Fork Volunteer Fire Department. He was a 1970 graduate of Brownstown Central High School. Phil enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and socializing and spending time with his friends at home and in Florida. He enjoyed tractor pulling his entire life and most recently antique tractor pulling with his grandsons. He also loved riding motorcycles and side-by-side ATVs with family and friends.

Born on November 5, 1951, in Seymour, he was the son of Bill and Marilyn VanHuss Teipen. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Seymour. On November 9, 1974, he married Janice Wischmeier and she survives in Seymour.

Survivors also include one son, Scott (Stephanie) Teipen of Crothersville; one daughter, Sharon (Drew) Markel of Brownstown; one brother, Eric Teipen of Frostproof, Florida; one sister, Cheryl (Ron) Million of Franklin; and five grandchildren: Brody Teipen, Brailey Teipen, Isaiah Markel, Kinsley Markel, and Kasen Markel.

Funeral services for Phillip Alan Teipen will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Randy King officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Schneck Medical Center Hospice, Don & Dana Myers Cancer Center, or Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown.
