Pine Ridge club celebrates birthday

Pine Ridge Extension Homemakers celebrated the club’s birthday with a secret pal gift exchange when the group met June 26 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Seymour.

Members decided to continue drawing secret pal names at Christmas, but gifts will no longer be exchanged. Freewill donations will be taken and given to Community Provisions of Jackson County at Christmas and to a charity to be selected each June on the observance of the club birthday.

Nine members answered roll call by naming favorite dairy products. Ice cream and cheese were the most common answers.

Norma Pollert will deliver the club’s Meals on Wheels day in July, assisted by Mary Miller.

Hostesses were decided for the coming year, and each may arrange a location. If the decision is to eat at a restaurant, each member will pay for her own meal.

Marge Patman told of new varieties of sunflowers.

Hostess Sandi Hall read “Birthday Beatitude” and served a luncheon. The hostess gift went to Carol Wait.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 7 at Peace Lutheran Church in Seymour when Pine Ridge will entertain the Leftovers 4-H Club.
