Brownstown Central football camp set

The Brownstown Central Football Camp Week will start this weekend.

A 7-on-7 lineman challenge will take place at Bedford North Lawrence High School at 9 a.m. Saturday.

On July 16, there will be the 56ers football equipment handout, fall registration, and camp sign-up will take place at 4:30 p.m. by the 56er equipment building by the high school game field. Middle school football equipment handout, registration and camp signups are at 5 p.m. at the middle school, and freshmen will have signups for their camp at 5 p.m. in the high school football locker room.

The 56ers camp will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. July 17 through July 19 at the high school practice field. Middle school camp will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on the same days at the middle school. Freshman football camp will be July 17 and 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the high school practice field.

A “Football 101: Women’s Clinic” will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the football stadium July 18. Admission is free.

On July 19, there will be a player organizational meeting at 7 p.m. in the high school football locker room for ninth- through 12th-graders.

Superstars Night will take place July 20, which will feature physical tests for the high school team; a 56ers punt, pass and kick competition; middle school scrimmage and awards ceremony at the high school practice field and weight room. The event will begin at 4 p.m. with the high school team maxing out in the weight room and end around 7:30.

There will be a community blood drive from 2 to 8 p.m. at the football stadium July 20. Appointments can be scheduled at donorpoint.org (sponsor code: D708)

A 7-on-7 lineman challenge will take place starting at 9 a.m. July 21 at West Washington High School (Campbellsburg). That night, there will be The Dancing with the Stars fundraiser at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Native Brown stays undefeated on mound

Seymour native Zack Brown hasn’t lost on the mound for the Biloxi Shuckers this season.

Brown pitched six innings for the Shuckers (50-37) in a 12-2 win over the Jackson Generals (45-42) on Monday. His final stat line read five hits, two runs (both earned), one walk and five strikeouts.

Brown improved to 8-0 with the win. He has now pitched 102 innings for the Shuckers this season. He has an ERA of 2.47 and has thrown 99 strikeouts.

The Shuckers are the Double-A Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Shuckers play at MGM Park in Biloxi, Mississippi.
