Survivors ride traveling through area

The 17th annual Cops Cycling for Survivors ride honoring fallen law enforcement officers and their families began Monday in downtown Indianapolis.

The ride, which began with a departure ceremony at the Police and Firefighters Memorial, covers nearly 1,000 miles around Indiana in a 13-day trip.

Monday’s ride ended at Columbus, and riders will travel from Columbus to Madison today.

Funds raised from the ride are used to aid the family members law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Proceeds also go toward perpetuating the memory of officers through foundations, scholarships and more that bear their names.

The ride will conclude at 2 p.m. July 21 at Crown Hill Cemetery, Heroes of Public Safety section, in Indianapolis.
