Mr. David O. Nowling, 77, of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Schneck Medical Center. He was born September 16, 1940, in Brownstown to the late Walider Nelson and Irene Mae (Guthrie) Nowling.

Funeral services will be held at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Friday, July 6 at 1 pm with Rev. Doug Pogue officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Thursday from 4-8 pm and on Friday from 12 noon until time of service.

He was a member of Brownstown Christian Church. On June 27, 1992, he married Margarethe Luella”Greta” (Raber) Nowling; she survives. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, he was a good ice fisherman. He enjoyed coaching and playing softball, baseball and basketball. He enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts and was a big IU fan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Cold War. He was presented with a Presidential Citation from President Kennedy. He worked at Aisin for 13 years and retired from Cummins after 20 years of service.

He is survived by his wife; children, Garry (Sylvia) Nowling, Susan (Thorston) Alexander, Melissa “Missy” Nowling and Brian Nowling; step-children, Rodney “Bruce” (Teresa) Lee, Timothy Lee and Lisa Wehr (Charles Reynolds); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Lee (Sondra) Nowling and Ricky Nowling; and sister, April (Jim) Mobley.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Danny Nowling; sister, Delores Mae Kleber; and two step-children, Patricia Smith and Charles Lee.
