An investigation by Indiana State Police detectives led to the arrest of a North Vernon man on charges related to attempted child solicitation.

Christopher Blackburn, 45, was booked into the Jennings County Jail at 1:52 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for charges of child solicitation, a Level 5 felony; attempted vicarious sexual gratification, a Level 5 felony; and attempted possession of child pornography, a Level 6 felony, according to jail records and an ISP spokesman.

He was released Friday from the Jennings County Jail on $2,555 bond, according to jail officials.

The investigation began in March when Indiana State Police detectives were contacted with information that Blackburn had improper communication with a 15-year old female, said Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, spokesman for the Indiana State Police Versailles Post.

Detectives determined that Blackburn contacted the female juvenile Feb. 16 via Snapchat. Blackburn sent the female a sexually suggestive music video and then requested the juvenile send him inappropriate pictures, Wheeles said.

After the investigation concluded, the case was turned over to the Jennings County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
