Man promoting clean water coming to Seymour church

Steve Spear will speak during the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services Sunday at The Point, 311 Myers Lane, Seymour.

Spear’s dedication to help bring clean water to children and communities around the world is what motivated him to run across the United States to raise more than $500,000 for clean water and sanitation projects in Africa in 2013, according to a news release.

During his coast-to-coast run, Spear ran the equivalent of about one marathon daily, five days per week for more than five months. Nearly 1,000 children under age 5 die every day from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation and improper hygiene.

World Vision provided improved access to clean water to 2.3 million people in 2015 alone and provides clean water and sanitation to one new person every 30 seconds.

Spear also will share some practical ideas about how everyone can be involved with helping provide clean water through participation in this year’s Monumental Marathon in Indianapolis as a part of Team World Vision.

Nursery and ministries for children age 3 through Grade 5 will be available in both services.
