Gerald Dean Witted went to heaven on May 29,2018 peacefully at home at age 88.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Fountain) Whitted of 67 years, sons: Alan (Billie) Whitted, Doug (Kim) Witted and daughter Rheadawn (George) Street, grandchildren: Cindi (Jon) Haulk, Michelle (Joel) Norris, Caleb (Jodi) Whitted, Alex (Teresha) Whitted, Audrey (Travis) Walters, Brian Street, Micah (Malcam) Whitted, and Austin (Darci) Whitted and great grandchildren: Hadley Haulk, Daxton Haulk, Colden Norris, Karalyn Norris, Mary Claire Whitted, Ryker Haulk and Lyndi Whitted.

Gerald was born in Heltonville to Oval and Louie (Allen) Whitted on April 19,1930. He graduated from Heltonville High School in 1949. He married Marjorie (Fountain) Whitted on January 13, 1951 in Heltonville.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 to serve in the Korean war and was discharged in 1955 with an honorable Characterization of service having been awarded the National Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

After leaving military service, Gerald started working on the line at Arvin in 1956. He retired from Arvin un 1986 after advancing from the line to foreman and then eventually night superintendent at the 17th Street plant in Columbus, Indiana. Gerald has been a long-time member at Mundell Christian Church.

Over the years, Gerald has served as an elder, deacon, superintendent, treasurer and trustee. Gerald was an accomplished high school athlete and lifelong fan of all types of sports. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren and all their activities, but especially watching them play basketball.

Gerald was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed the farming life.

Visitation is scheduled from 4:00-8:00pm on Friday June 1,2018 at Mundell Christian Church located at 864 Mundell Church Road, Heltonville, Indiana.

Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 10:00-11:00am with the funeral and burial immediately following and reception thereafter at the church. Minister John Wisely will officiate the ceremony.

All are welcome to attend. Arrangements were made with Jones Funeral Home in Heltonville.
