Second-graders at Seymour-Redding Elementary School celebrated Mother’s Day with a special garden party program Thursday morning.

Students wore garden-themed hats they had made, sang songs and shared interesting facts and jokes they had learned about insects.

Mothers and grandmothers were invited and had the opportunity to share cookies and lemonade with their children and grandchildren afterwards.

Here’s what some of the students had to say about their moms in honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday.

What makes your mom special? What makes my mom special is that she loves me and she gave birth to me.

What is the best advice your mom has given you? My mom said every day is a good day.

If you could give your mom anything for Mother’s Day, what would you give her? I would give her all my love and even more of my love.

What makes your mom special? My mom loves me. That’s what makes my mom special.

What is the best advice your mom has given you? Show God’s love is my mom’s best advice, I think.

If you could give your mom anything for Mother’s Day, what would you give her? If I could give my mom anything, I would give my mom a rose.

What makes your grandma special? She is nice to me, and she helps me do stuff that I need help on.

What is the best advice your grandma has given you? She gave me her address and her phone number.

If you could give your grandma anything for Mother’s Day, what would you give her? I would give her a lint roller.
