Eighth annual Ride to Remember to pass through county

The eighth annual Ride to Remember, honoring fallen heroes and their families who gave the ultimate sacrifice during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, will be June 9 and 10.

The ride includes a stop June 10 at the Jackson County Courthouse, 111 S. Main St., Brownstown, to remember Marine Lance Cpl. Hunter “H.D.” Hogan of Norman for his sacrifice and a stop at Vernon Cemetery to remember Marine Lance Cpl. Jacky Ray Koenig.

Hogan was killed in action June 23, 2012, while serving in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

The ride will begin at 8 a.m. June 9 in Batesville and end at 5:30 p.m. June 10 in Versailles. Participants do not have to ride a motorcycle, as four-wheel vehicles are welcome.
