Seymour business hosting parking lot party for community

Confetti — The Social Venue is throwing a parking lot party, and everyone is invited.

When the Seymour business opened last year, co-owners Chelsea Burrell and Megan Wince said once it got warm outside, the first thing they wanted to do was host an event for the community.

The Confetti Parking Lot Party is set for 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Shops at Seymour, 357 Tanger Blvd.

Live music, vendors, bounce houses and food trucks will be outside, while exotic animals will be inside Suite 214. Plus, neighboring businesses Sugar Bucket Antiques and Deals Marketplace will be open.

“Our big thing was we wanted to create camaraderie in the businesses out there, but then our ultimate goal is to serve the families of Jackson County,” Burrell said. “We get to accomplish those.”

The live music includes the Young and Crazy Band from 3 to 4 p.m., Radio Rebel from 4 to 5 p.m., Gypsy Rose from 5 to 6 p.m., These Fine Gentlemen from 6 to 7 p.m. and Enos Road from 7 to 8 p.m.

The Boys & Girls Club of Seymour will be among the booths. They will do face painting for $1 and have a bake sale with all proceeds helping fund field trips for members in the summer program.

“Their goal is to provide all of their activities for the summer members paid for so the parents don’t have to pay for them,” Burrell said.

Bouncy Fun Rentals has donated the use of bounce houses, while the food vendors will include Lucille’s On the Go, Casey’s Cakes and Classes, The Seymour Brewing Co., La Mexicana and more.

Also, adults can purchase Confetti winesicles, and Oh Sweetie Specialty Treats will have gourmet popsicles for kids.

The event also will have a woman doing glitter tattoos, and there will be several giveaways at the booths.

Inside Confetti from 5 to 8 p.m., Zoo’Opolis Exotic Petting World will be back for the second time this year with a variety of exotic animals. Admission is $5 per person with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit organization.

Burrell said Zoo’Opolis was a popular attraction earlier this year at Confetti.

“We had such an amazing turnout for them, and we had lots and lots of people that said they couldn’t make that event, so we told them, ‘We’re having another community event. We’re already going to have tons of children and families at this event. Why don’t you come back?’” she said.

“So the families that couldn’t come before could come now or they can go back for a second time since it was so full last time,” she said. “People probably didn’t have a great opportunity to visit with the animals the way they would have wanted to or see all of the animals, so this will give them a new opportunity.”

The last time Zoo’Opolis was at Confetti, the neighboring businesses stayed open later. As people waited in line to see the animals, they shopped at those stores.

“They were like, ‘We didn’t realize how much that would help us,’” Burrell said. “That just made me feel so good that we were able to draw that business back out there and to help not only us because obviously, it helped us, but it helped the other businesses that we care about, too.”

Burrell said she encourages people to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the event. Coolers are permitted, but no alcohol is allowed. It will be available for purchase at the event, but there will be no carryout.

“We’re trying to make it into a mini festival, and we’ve got the space for it,” she said. “It’s really going to help all of the other businesses that are out there.”
