Cougars win slug-fest

OLDENBURG — In a game featuring lots of offense, Trinity Lutheran came out on top.

The Cougars defeated Oldenburg Academy 13-11 on Tuesday to move to 7-6-1 on the season.

After the Twisters took a 1-0 lead in the first inning both teams scored four runs in the second.

The Cougars tied the game with a run in the third before scoring eight runs in the top of the sixth to lead 13-5.

The Twisters scored two in the bottom of the sixth, and four in the seventh inning, but couldn’t make the comeback.

Trinity was outhit 14-8 in the game. The Cougars’ Chandler Reynolds had a grand slam, and totaled three hits. Jake VonDielingen collected two hits.

VonDielngen pitched the opening inning, Tyler Goecker tossed two innings and Lawson Woods commanded four on the mound.

Trinity will host Bedford North Lawrence today in a game added to the schedule.
