Three Jackson County residents were recognized during the recent Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus Vice Chancellor’s Academic Honors Convocation in Custer-Nugent Lecture Hall at the Columbus Learning Center.

Demi Oakes of Seymour received the First-Year Seminar Award, while Morgan Bailey of Crothersville was honored for being an Office of Student Research Grant award winner.

Nurse Anita Robinson of Seymour also received the Sharer Preceptor of the Year Award for her help with clinicals at a hospital.

The event provides the university with the opportunity to reflect on the outstanding work and achievements of selected individuals throughout the academic year, according to a news release.

More than 40 top students, in a wide range of disciplines, were recognized for scholarly accomplishments during the 2017-18 academic year. Two staff members and five faculty members also were honored.

Selected by their peers for recognition, these award winners demonstrated significant service and contributions to IUPUC students, the campus and the south central Indiana region.
