CROTHERSVILLE

Crothersville police didn’t find who they were looking for, but the search for a Crothersville man led to the arrest of 10 people on drug-related charges late Tuesday.

Police obtained a search warrant in their search for Daniel Weisman, 34, on intimidation charges, Crothersville Police Chief Brent Turner said.

When Turner, Reserve Officer Mike Weiler, Officer Matt Browning and an Indiana State Police trooper went to serve the warrant, they were told Weisman was not there.

Turner, Weiler and the trooper stayed at 107 N. East St. until Cooper and Browning asked for assistance at 306 W. Walnut St.

On arrival, Browning and Cooper smelled the odor of marijuana, Turner said.

Cooper then asked one of the people inside the home, Carl James Perkins, about the odor, and the man said he had been smoking marijuana in the home.

Perkins then gave officers consent to search. A marijuana plant and other paraphernalia were found in the house trailer, and a search of the garage is where Browning and Weiler found syringes, methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia, Turner said.

Police arrested:

Gary Martin Rutherford, 49, Crothersville, common nuisance, possession of paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, possession of syringe

Charles James Hickman, 34, Crothersville, common nuisance

Herman Curtis Eldridge, 43, Crothersville, common nuisance

Sabrina L. Jensen, 40, Crothersville, common nuisance

Jolene Jean Robinson, 37, Austin, common nuisance

Carl James Perkins, 44, Crothersville, two counts of possession of marijuana/hashish, possession of paraphernalia, common nuisance

Rose Victorino, 56, Crothersville, common nuisance

After that search, officers went back to the police department, and Weiler obtained a search warrant for the East Street home.

Police found drugs and paraphernalia, Turner said.

That led to the arrests of:

James Cecil Parnell, 39, Seymour, possession of methamphetamine, common nuisance

Shannon Renee Parnell, 40, Crothersville, common nuisance

Scott Allen Staley, 45, Crothersville, common nuisance, possession of paraphernalia

Turner said Weisman was never located and is believed to be out of state.

All 10 people were booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown between 9:31 p.m. Tuesday and 3:23 a.m. Wednesday.

James Parnell, Staley and Rutherford were booked without bond.

The Crothersville Police Department was assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and the Austin Police Department K-9 unit.
